I started the HRCI Prep Course in February 2020 and, due to the pandemic, we were given the choice to continue as planned in a virtual classroom experience or post-pone to the fall. I chose to continue on in the virtual setting and although it wasn’t the norm, the course was pivotal in me being ready to take and pass the PHR exam in May 2020.
Overall, the prep course was a great experience, especially with helping me not procrastinate studying due to the weekly work match quizzes and in-class exams. I also appreciated the flash cards to help learn terms and the practice exams which allowed me to apply what I was learning each week and know the areas where I needed to focus more of my studying efforts. Like many Prepsters, I was nervous come exam day but I felt prepared and looked forward to seeing all the hours of studying pay off. I passed the PHR exam on my first attempt and know I would not have received as high of results in all content areas without the HRCI Prep Course. This course lays out a study plan to help you stay on track, allows you to have a network of support from the instructor to your fellow Prepsters, and helps you understand terms, employment laws, and HR concepts.
Achieving my PHR certification has helped me become more established in the HR field and has contributed to my career growth as I was recently promoted to an HR Supervisor.

I would like to give some feedback on the HRCI prep course now that I have passed the PHR exam. If you are looking for a class to prepare for the PHR/SPHR, this is the prep course to take. Once thing that I realized throughout this journey is that, just picking up a book on Amazon and preparing for the exam may not be the best way to go. The class provides a wealth of material that will surely cover most of the topics on the exam if not all. Does it seem like a lot sometimes? Yes, it does, but you definitely do not want to take the exam if you haven’t covered as much material as possible. This exam is all about preparation and it will get you prepared by providing with the tools you need for the exam. If you listen to LaCoya, I am pretty sure that you will do fine. You will encounter some pains along the road, but if you do not give up, and instead carve some time to study, I have no doubt you will pass. The other good thing is that you get to connect with other HR professionals, share ideas and develop additional tools that will help you in your HR career as well.
