COVID-19 Update

The course continues to be held online using a combination of recorded lectures and real-time class meetings/interactions. While many of us may not consider ourselves “good at online learning” this format is not your traditional asynchronous learning environment. Instead, the online version of this course is a combination of live and interactive discussions using video conferencing to facilitate individual and group interactions with weekly prerecorded lectures. All other aspects of the course that have made our students so successful in passing the certification exam remain the same. Proudly, our graduates continue to enjoy a 90% pass rate on their certification exams following completion of this course. A true testament to the effectiveness of the course in both in-person and online modalities.

Information regarding accessing course content online and other relevant information will be provided two to three weeks prior to the start of the course.

HRCI:

The Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is the credentialing body for the PHR, the SPHR, the GPHR and California specific professional certifications.  HRCI was originally created within the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and began certifying HR professionals in 1976.  HRCI is now a separate organization with its own Board of Directors and administers the exams through PearsonVUE testing centers year-round.  The examination is timed and formally supervised.  The examination samples your mastery of the body of knowledge in the Human Resource field as defined by HRCI.Visit www.hrci.org for eligibility requirements.

THE CLASS:

The HRCI Prep Course given by LaCoya Shelton is a thirteen-week preparation course to prepare certain individuals who meet the qualifications to sit for the HRCI professional certification examination at the PHR or the SPHR level.  Individuals interested in re-certification credit may also take the class.  Each weekly class is three and one-half hours long and the course has 45 total classroom hours.  An additional 8-12 hours of study outside of class is required each week.  The course provides 4.5 Continuing Educational Units (CEU’s), a letter grade (A to DNP) depending upon academic performance.  A certificate of completion, suitable for framing, is provided upon successful completion with a minimum grade of 70% AND minimum attendance of 11 of the 13 classes.  Any student missing three classes, for any reason is dropped from the class.  The HRCP five-text set is the primary reading material and is included in the tuition cost.  This course is rigorous and includes six examinations and eleven quizzes in thirteen weeks.  Class size is limited and reservations are accepted in the order received. Tuition is $1,700, including all books and fees and is due 30 days before class begins.  Tuition is 97% refundable* up to the first class if your plans change.  THIS TUITION DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COST OF THE HRCI EXAMINATION.

THE GUARANTEE:

Ms. Shelton provides a GUARANTEE that anyone who works hard enough to pass this course with a “B” or better will pass the national exam, if not, they may take any or all of the course over again at no charge AND Ms. Shelton will pay the re-examination fee of any student who fails the examination who passed his class with an “A” grade.

THE INSTRUCTOR:

Ms. Shelton became SPHR certified in 2004.  She has had a successful career spanning two decades leading HR teams and systems while developing agile, progressive HR organizations that are grounded in service, operational excellence and strategic ability.  Currently Ms. Shelton serves as Chief Executive Officer of Revolutionary HR Consulting where she partners with organizations to create or strengthen alignment between HR systems and business strategies. Prior to launching Revolutionary HR Consulting in 2019, Ms. Shelton spent many years in the c-suite.  She served as Vice Chancellor for Human Resources with Maricopa Community Colleges, the largest community colleges district in the nation.  Her previous roles also include Chief HR Officer overseeing the full delivery of HR services for 70 Arizona state agencies, boards and commissions, healthcare and private sector human resources.  She specializes in the design and execution of high-impact, transformational HR recognizing that HR is the intersection between business strategies and the human beings responsible for its success. Ms. Shelton also serves as an expert HR witness providing expert HR opinions in a variety of legal matters involving employment given her background and expertise in Human Resources.  She teaches HR management and leadership part-time at Grand Canyon University, serves on the City of Surprise Personnel Board and is a member of the Conscious Capitalism Arizona Chapter leadership team. Ms. Shelton is a graduate of Arizona State University and doctoral candidate in organization and human capital management. Ms. Shelton is a “Top Gun” graduate of the HRCI Prep Class formerly taught by Mr. Jack Milligan.  Mr. Milligan taught the class since 1996 successfully graduating over 1,500 HR professionals.  The HRCI Prep Course under Ms. Shelton’s tutelage maintains the same successful course room format, content approach and guarantee that has served to help so many HR professionals over the years obtain their desired certification.
